  8. For rebuilding the binaries you may need:
  9.  
  10.     - Aztec C V5.2a;
  11.  
  12.     - GNU sed version 1.01 ( Fish Disk Nr: 231 ).
  13.           I use a private port of version 1.08;
  14.  
  15.     - MV from Fish Disk 219.
  16.  
  17. The binaries in "bin" are for AMIGAS with MC680x0 ( x > 1 ).

  20.     Hardware Guide

  22. Users from OTRONIC OSSI-SCSI-CONTROLLER boards can
  23. replace their EPROM resident device driver:
  24.  
  25.     - Open the Controller;
  26.  
  27.     - There are 1 2764D and 1 27128A;
  28.  
  29.     - Clear both chips with an EPROM erasing device;
  30.  
  31.     - Reburn 2764D with file "EPROM/ROMHD.64";
  32.  
  33.     - Reburn 27128A with file "EPROM/ROMHD.128";
  34.  
  35.         - Short jumpers 1/2 for autobooting with the new device driver;
  36.  
  37.         - Or 2/3 for disabling autoboot ( In this case you must use
  38.           binddrivers for starting the new device driver 
  39.           from sys:expansion/HardDisk);
  40.  
  41.         - Reassemble the controller box and have fun....

  44.     Software Guide:
  45.  
  46. Before reburning your old EPROMS or replacing them
  47. by EPROMS with the new device driver you can test your hard drive:
  48.        
  49.         - Copy expansion/HardDisk to sys:expansion/ on a WorkBench disk;
  50.  
  51.         - POWER DOWN your machine;
  52.  
  53.         - Disable Autoboot on your Controller Board ( Jumpering 1-2 );
  54.  
  55.         - POWER UP your machine;
  56.  
  57.         - Load KickStart 1.3 or 2.0 on A-1000 machines;
  58.  
  59.         - Reset your machine with empty drive slots;
  60.  
  61.         - Now the machine should'nt boot from the old
  62.           EPROM resident device driver because autoboot is disabled;
  63.  
  64.         - Insert the WorkBench Disk with the new device driver "HardDisk"
  65.           in directory sys:Expansion;
  66.  
  67.         - Open a Shell Window and type: BindDrivers;
  68.           wait until BindDrivers terminates disk activity;
  69.  
  70.         - Reset your machine with empty drive slots;
  71.  
  72.         - Now your machine should boot
  73.           from the new reset resident driver after
  74.           every reset, unless you activate KillResidentDriver
  75.           on machines with Kickstart 1.3 and beyond.
  76.           Under Kickstart 1.2 you must refer explicitely
  77.           partitions. Example: The device name of a partition is
  78.           HD0:, the command line "cd hd0:" in your
  79.           s:startup-sequence of the WorkBench Disk
  80.           activates the hard disk partition because
  81.           the Operating System loads a file system
  82.           for a partition AFTER the first reference
  83.           to the device name of the partition ( hd0: dh0: ... ).
  84.  
  85. If the above steps work you can reburn your EPROMS with EPROM/ROMHD.128
  86. and EPROM/ROMHD.64 and the machine
  87. should autoboot with jumpers 1-2 connected from the EPROMS
  88. after POWER UP on AMIGA-500 and after loading Kickstart on A-1000.
  89.        
  90. Remark: The old device driver autoboots under jumper setting 2-3
  91.         the new device driver with jumper setting 1-2!!!
  92.  
  93. Hints:  You find the required EPROM types on nearly every old 
  94.         PC-clone motherboards or similar hardware junk 
  95.         if you want preserve
  96.         your original EPROMS ( A very Cheap solution );
  97.  
  98.         Grounding PIN 26 of the 2764D socket allows the usage
  99.         of another 27128A as replacement for the original 2764D
  100.         if you burn the lower 4KB of 
  101.         this chip with "EPROM/ROMHD.64" thus using two 27128A instead
  102.         of the original 27128A/2764D pair;
  103.  
  104.         Other
  105.         Suitable EPROMS: D27128A/L7490293S from Intel ( 12.5V )
  106.                          D27128A/L7150289S from Intel ( 12.5V );
  107.  
  108.     Due to the mapping of the original on board SCSI-connector with
  109.         50 pins into 37 pins for the external OSSI-SCSI drive box
  110.         there exists a NOT CONNECT condition for /ATN.
  111.         You should connect pin 32 of the connector with pin 15 of
  112.         the AM5380PC controller chip. Now you can use
  113.         a standard SCSI-cable for connecting external SCSI-boxes
  114.         to your OTRONIC controller;
  115.  
  116.         The on board 50 pin connector points to the front side if
  117.         you connect the controller to an AMIGA-1000!!

  157.         For partitioning of large disks like FUTJITSU M2266S/H 1GB
  158.         you should use the standard COMMODORE tool HDToolbox from
  159.         a CLI console, type in: hdtoolbox hd.device;
  160.  
  161.         DiskDefine only works correctly with small SCSI drives;
  162.  
  163.         I tested my device driver with CONNER 3200CP 200MB, FUTJITSU M2266S/H
  164.         1 GB, SyQuest 88MB, Archive Viper Tape Streamer, SEAGATE 296N 80 MB;
  165.  
  166.         The driver also works with Kickstart 37.175 and WorkBench 37.67.

  169. due to using my device driver or performing the above upgrades!!

  171. P.S. If you burned successfully some EPROMS with
  172.      the supplied binaries and every thing works well,
  173.      or if there is a hard disk not supported from my driver, send mail
